They told me if I studied hard That I could do the things I want They told me if I skipped the bar And took the bar the bar would not be low They told me that I could go far Far into the open world But the doors are closed The doors are closed
2.
Crying every time you left me bleeding Music builds the will to change And helps me raise your heart into the nothing I'm faded and weary But I won't duck and run away Escape from places you left years ago Can I believe in yourself this time? Back to life you see my fear of living The fear you find the distance that You're free, I'm careless, and I wanna be Your soul is a wound now But I'll grow old and come alive And no one's begging me to always See Can I believe in yourself this time?

If I have no voice what can I say? Just curl into the covers and I'll Tuck, tuck, tuck away If I have no choice what can I say? Just hold onto the vocal cords and Pluck, pluck, pluck away Pluck, pluck, pluck away Pluck, pluck, pluck away

I don’t want to wait no more, I’m tired of this shit I don’t want to stand in line, no I don’t want to sit I don’t need to wear a wig, don’t need a perfect fit I don’t want to squeal no more like a capitalist pig I don’t know what I can do, I guess I’ll never learn But I think it’s gotta go on the record as far as I’m concerned I don’t want to work a job, won’t keep the fire lit I don’t want to suck no more from a predetermined tit I don’t want to dance a jig, don’t want to vote for Mitt I don’t want to roll the dice and try to beat the rig I don’t know what I can do, I guess I’ll never learn Every day it’s the same song but I’m crying out It’s none of my concern I just want to bang the drums, I want to take a hit I just want to take my shoes and slam them on the kit Yeah, I just want to take a swig, just want to call it quits But then that’s just another hole from which I have to dig

Forty years they told me Forty years and then I can kick back Drive along the road hitting speed bumps And spinning off the track Spending all my money finding better places only to go back Traveling for miles on the cold and cobbled road just to relax Just to relax Thousand years they told me Thousand years and then a different song Neon in the lemon groves But no one seems to think that something’s wrong Building up a throne out of candles, waiting for the gong But it’s wax that we sit on, we won’t be here very long

Set in Stone 03:22
I couldn't find the words I couldn't separate them from the others I couldn't hear the birds I couldn't make one sound out from another I couldn't tell her she was the only one I couldn't tell her she was the only one No

This is Radio Beijing. Please remember June the third, 1989. The most tragic event happened in the Chinese capital, Beijing. Thousands of people, most of them innocent civilians, were killed by fully armed soldiers when they forced their way into the city. Among the killed are our colleagues at Radio Beijing. The soldiers were riding on armored vehicles and used machine guns against thousands of local residents and students who tried to block their way. When the army convoys made a breakthrough, soldiers continued to spray their bullets indiscriminately at crowds in the street. Eyewitnesses say some armored vehicles even crushed foot-soldiers who hesitated in front of the resisting civilians. Radio Beijing [sic] English Department deeply mourns those [sic] died in the tragic incident and appeals to all its listeners to join our protest for the gross violation of human rights and the most barbarous suppression of the people. Because of this abnormal situation here in Beijing, there is no other news we could bring you. We sincerely ask for your understanding and thank you for joining us at this most tragic moment.

Where did it come from? Where does it go? How do I count it? How do I lose? So why spend your days filling numbers on a page? Why spend your days filling numbers on a page? Just numbers on a page

We miss the birds What happened to the birds? I miss the birds They got blown up in the song

I’m on my knees, singing away Swinging my arms just to keep them away They call me crazy But what’s in a name? What’s in a name? I hold on I hold Don’t let me go Don’t They call me crazy But what’s in a name? What’s in a name?

Bombs are dropping in these fields The trees and flowers are a shield Words upon worlds on the city hills All packaged in a business deal With a pattern's leaf A pattern's leaf A pattern's leaf in my head ` You're turning away and I'm spinning the Promise of a simple meal Don't just carry me dying across field by field It's frame by frame and reel by reel With a pattern's leaf A pattern's leaf A pattern's leaf in my head

Shadow Youth 03:23
Helpless yourself into the waves Your teardrops, patterns of smog into a haze I'm watching you suspend her shattered voices We're wasting our shadow youth inside a cage It's broken Helpless yourself into a rage Your broken-down promises spiral to the grave We're dancing here to dark and scattered noises It's you and me battered into brighter days And screaming

A bark was more than I could ever manage In the end I'm just a loyal dog

about

Cosmo Krysis spoke the words
Close your eyes and watch the birds
Smell your gloves through sheets of haze
And clap your hands for better days
